Bomer talked to People.com about the extreme manscaping of his nether regions required to play a stripper in Magic Mike.
‘We all had to go there,’ Bomer said this week. ‘I’m not going to say
it was fun, and personally I will never do it again, but for that
project it was necessary. We were all in the boat together.’
The White Collar star added: ‘What was important to me was
to tell the story authentically, and I wanted to reflect what the
dancers in real life do. And that’s part of their job.’
While some might think playing a male stripper is just a matter of taking your clothes off, Bomer says he did his research.
‘It was us against the world,’ he said of he and his famous co-stars.
‘But in a lot of ways, that was the mentality of a lot of exotic
dancers I talked to. It’s a profession that’s not widely accepted by
the general populace, so even though they raz each other and it is a
sort of locker room environment, they help each other out and look out
for each other, and I feel like that’s something we picked up on.’
