Music and love were the sole focus of Scissor Sisters’ exuberant return
to stage in Seattle this past Tuesday. No political statements, just a
reflection and regret that “we’ve been away for so long.” Jake ‘n crew
promised never to let it happen again. Since this was the Only NW appearance, they promised the Portland based attendees they will appear in Portland next time.
A mighty throng of glittered gays (sold-out) were on hand at The Paramount Theater (the Ballroom/Dance style appearance) to see Bare-chested Jake Shears (Seattle Royalty), as well as vocalist Ana Matronic (Portland Royalty), Babydaddy, Del Marquis (yummy, gay lead guitarist), and drummer Randy Real
jam away. The band, whose music fits the genres of glam rock, pop,
disco, alternative and electro clash, pulled heavily from their new
album, Magic Hour.
Their latest, "Let's Have a Kiki" is FAB! Other new stuff included, "Shady Love", "Only the Horses", and “Invisible Light”.
Shears started with a cool jacket over tank top, and eventually went shirtless for a third of the performance. Then Shears left and came back with a Blue see-through tank.
It ended with "I Don't Feel Like Dancin", the Best of the Best.
BTW..The Opener was Rye-Rye (a Nikki Minaj Type) and she had some good moves, but Most of the audience were not Rap fans, which gave them more time in the Paramount Lobby Bar!
The Sisters formed in 2001, "spawned by the scuzzy, gay nightlife scene
of New York,” as one critic put it. It wasn’t
until 2004, though, that the group rose to public attention with the
release of their self-titled debut album.
