SIGN OFF: Andy Rooney Ending Role on 60 Minutes!

Curmudgeon wanted: Andy Rooney is calling it quits from 60 Minutes, says CBS. The 92-year-old will announce the move at the end of this Sunday's essay, which the network notes will be No. 1,097 since 1978. Though a network fixture, Rooney has run into repeated criticism that he's out of touch with modern culture, notes the TVNewser blog.

"There's nobody like Andy and there never will be," says CBS News chief Jeff Fager. "His contributions to 60 Minutes are immeasurable; he's also a great friend. It's harder for him to do it every week, but he will always have the ability to speak his mind on 60 Minutes when the urge hits him."
