Virginia delegate Bob Marshall, who wrote a letter to the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond condemning the bank’s decision to raise a rainbow-striped gay pride flag, has been chastised by the LBGT Democrats of Virginia for lying about gay and lesbian people.
The Federal Reserve Bank, a private institution chartered by Congress to oversee U.S. banking policy, raised the rainbow flag under the United States flag in order to celebrate employee diversity during LGBT Pride month.
Fed spokesman Jim Strader told the Washington Post “it represents the bank’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, which we support.”
According to OnTop Magazine, the LGBT Democrats responded with a letter asking that “Marshall stop perpetuating ignorance and falsehoods [and] stop lying to the people of Virginia.”
