The Queensland Supreme Court sentenced a Victoria man to serve jail time for running down his ex-lover with his car, 365gay.com Reports.
Craig Munro, 36, hit 23-year-old, Brendan Gannaway while he was biking to work on September 2, 2009.
Prosecutor Sarah Farden said the two men were lovers but Munro became jealous after he saw Gannaway kissing a woman at a nightclub. Following that incident the two men sent each other several threatening text messages.
Court records show Munro drove to Gannaway’s workplace intending to engage in a physical fight.
Munro drove off after he ran down Gannaway, leaving him in the middle of the road. Gannaway suffered minor injuries.
Munro claims at the time of the attack he had not been taking the correct dosage of medication to treat his schizo-affective disorder, which caused him to become paranoid and triggered hallucinations.
The court sentenced Munro to four years in jail, to be suspended after 16 months.
