CULTURE: Germany Removes English Phrases From Signs!

Germany's transportation minister is not happy with what he considers an invasion of the English language into German culture, and he's fighting back. Thomas Ramsauer has begun replacing English words and phrases used by his department with original German, reports The Local.

"Ticket," for example, is now "Fahrscheinen," and no longer will "stop" or "laptop" appear on official signs or anyplace else. Ramsauer says he's received calls and letters from supporters who would like to see a ban on English throughout other departments in Germany's government.
