Another day, another inconvenient video for the TSA to explain: In this one, a shirtless young boy is patted down by a TSA agent at the Salt Lake City airport. Luke Tait, who filmed the video with his cell phone and posted it on YouTube, writes in the video description that the boy went through a metal detector and was then selected for a pat-down, even though he didn't set it off. "The boy was shy so the TSA couldn't complete" the pat-down, and the boy's father tried to hold the boy's arms out so the agent could complete the search, but ultimately the "enraged" dad pulled off his son's shirt and handed it to the agent.
In response, a TSA agent shouted "Sir, sir!" Tait tells the Salt Lake Tribune, but in the video you can see the search continues before the agent puts the shirt back on. On the TSA blog, a spokesperson writes that the father was simply trying to "expedite the screening," and that the TSA did not ask anyone to disrobe. After they left the security area, Tait attempted to talk to the father and son, but a man in a suit who did not identify himself approached him first and asked him to delete the recording, which Tait refused to do.
