Florence Henderson 'shocked' at being dropped from 'Dancing with the Stars' over Bristol Palin

Florence Henderson expressed shock at being thrown off "Dancing with the Stars" Tuesday night in place of lower scorer Bristol Palin, NY Daily News reports.

"I was a little surprised but you know, I've watched this show since it began and I've seen absolutely shocking things happen so somebody had to go," she told reporters.

Sarah Palin's daughter scored only 18 out of a possible 30 points on Monday -- three less than Henderson -- landing her at the bottom of the leaderboard.

On his show Tuesday night, Jimmy Kimmel said the 20-year-old's monkey suited routine must have given Henderson pause.

"When you saw Bristol Palin in that gorilla thing, you must have thought, 'We got this wrapped up this week, no problem,'" he quipped.

Palin admitted to reporters after the show that she wasn't at her best and even forgot a series of steps.

"I was so focused with getting the costume off," she said. "I was kind of just looking around and going, 'Oh great'...it was definitely a big hiccup on my part."

Despite Henderson's surprise at being voted off the show, the 76-year-old "Brady Bunch" star admitted she was still "close" with her competitor.

"Oddly enough, I bonded the most with Bristol," Henderson told reporters.

Henderson plans to finish her memoir, which hits shelves on Mother's Day, and to travel around the country with her one-woman show.

"Corky and I have a couple of projects you will hear about," she teased of her former "DWTS" partner, Corky Ballas.

Jimmy Kimmel offered his own theory as to why Henderson was voted off – her on-camera kiss with Barry Williams, who played her son on ‘The Brady Bunch.’ “Do you think that when America saw you kissing Greg Brady, they went, ‘What the hell’s going on here? This cannot happen again! Who knows where they’ll go next week if we let this continue!’?”

Henderson just laughed. “Now, Jimmy, I hate to break it to you, but he wasn’t really my son.” (He's my step-son)!
