Mohamed Mahmood Alessa at 14 was already talking about mutilating homosexuals, blowing up his school, and subordinating women in the name of Islam. During his teen years the Jersey jihadist was kicked out of a string of schools, where "he was exhibiting this crazy, radicalized behavior," and officials found him so dangerous they even contacted Homeland Security, a source from one of his high schools told the New York Daily News.
Carlos Almonte, the other aspiring jihadist nabbed at JFK Saturday, was seen as a normal kid until Alessa radicalized him after he'd finished high school. "This guy Mohamed brought a lot of trouble," Almonte's sister said. "My father didn't want him in the house. He brainwashed Carlos and tried to convert us, too." The inept duo also apparently tried and failed to join the insurgency in Iraq around 2007.
