Cynthia Nixon is engaged to a woman—or, in Nixon’s words, “a short man with boobs.” The Sex and the City star talks about her relationship with Christine Marinoni in The Advocate:
•Gender roles: “A lot of what I love about her is her butchness,” she says, but later adds, “My daughter said one time that if you really had to break this down, she would be butch and I would be femme...but really once you get to know us it's really the opposite.”
•Fan reactions: “With the first flurry of articles when I came out, there were kind of crazy quotes from people, just the average person on the street. One was like, ‘I don’t understand. Miranda’s not the bisexual one; Samantha is the bisexual one.’”
•Evolving sexuality: “If anybody, prior to my meeting and falling in love with Christine, had asked me about what I think about sexuality, I would have said I think we're all bisexual. But I had that point of view without ever having felt attracted to a woman. I had never met a woman I was attracted to” before.
•Family: “Maybe I’m just lucky, but I feel like Christine is so amazing with our kids—because they’re our kids. I feel like falling in love with her is part of being amazed at how she makes our family so much better.”
