Idol: Tim Urban survives, Didi Benami does not

The kid has nine lives!

Tim Urban, who regularly gets pummeled by the judges, was once again in the bottom 2 (AGAIN!)on American Idol but the cutie with the awesome bod staved off elimination.

How does he do it?

Fortunately for Tim, there has been someone who has been clearly worse in each of the past two weeks. This week, that person was Didi Benami who has just been painful to watch.

Tim is going to have to step it up next week if he is to avoid being next. Katie Stevens is vulnerable after two bottom three finishes in a row but she is a bigger talent than Tim. In fact, everyone remaining is more talented than Tim.

In other words, he needs to wear a really tight shirt (or Go Shirtless!), pick a song perfectly suited to him and sing the hell out of it. It might not still be enough unless someone else really blows it.

He’s also gotta keep on smiling!

The judges rib him for smiling through the criticism but Tim explained tonight that he’s smiling so much because he is having the time of his life and he seems to be in the moment of all that is happening to him. He wasn’t even in the top 24 originally but got in when another contestant was disqualified. So he probably looks at all of this as gravy and good for him!

The contestants will be selecting from the Lennon-McCartney songbook next week. What do we think would be good for Tim? I’m thinking something like Got to Get You Into My Life, Help! or With a Little Help from My Friends.
