(LIST) National Film Registry Adds 25 Movies!

The Library of Congress has added 25 films to its National Film Registry, with some familiar titles in the mix, reports the LA Times:

  • A Christmas Story (1983): Yep, the perennial favorite about the quest for a Red Ryder BB gun.
  • The Matrix (1999): The one that started the sci-fi franchise, with Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne.
  • Dirty Harry (1971): Clint Eastwood introduced Detective Harry Callahan to San Francisco and the nation.
  • Slacker (1991): Richard Linklater's innovative indie flick about a day in the life of Austin, Texas.
  • A League of Their Own (1992): Penny Marshall's movie about a women's baseball league, complete with Madonna.
  • Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961): With Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly.
