BONDED: Another Former NOTW Editor Arrested!

British police have arrested yet another former News of the World employee in connection with its phone hacking investigation. This time it’s ex-managing editor Stuart Kuttner, who for 22 years served as the public face and perennial defender of the tabloid, the Guardian reports. The 71-year-old went in for a police interview today, apparently unaware that he wouldn’t be coming out. He recently returned from the US where he underwent treatment for some serious health issues.

Kuttner is reportedly a suspect both in the phone hacking investigation and the police bribery probe. During last month's hearing, Rebekah Brooks explained that "payments to private investigators would have gone through the managing editor's office," notes the Guardian. Kuttner left the paper in 2009 without explanation, though at the time he said he would continue to work on “specialized projects” like the Sarah’s Law campaign. In one 2008 interview he vigorously denounced phone hacking, saying, “It happened once at the News of the World. The reporter was fired; he went to prison. The editor resigned.”
