ISSUES: Rutgers Students Didn't See Any Sexual Contact!

Dharun Ravi and Molly Wei are finally breaking their silence, through their lawyers, about what happened the night they allegedly spied on Tyler Clementi’s sexual encounter in his Rutgers dorm room. Despite their new reputation as bullies who broadcast the encounter to the Internet at large, attorneys claim that in reality, Ravi and Wei were the only people who watched—and they only saw Clementi hugging and kissing a man, not having sex.

“Nothing was transmitted beyond one computer and what was seen was only viewed for a matter of seconds,” one attorney tells the New Jersey Star-Ledger; the other adds that as far as he knows, the video was not “recorded, reproduced, or disseminated in any way” and no “nudity” or “private parts” were viewed. Friends of Ravi and Wei also weigh in, with one recalling that Wei described Clementi’s bearded visitor as “kind of sketchy” and said they watched for two minutes. Another says that Ravi was “kind of bragging” about the scheme, but insists Ravi is not homophobic.
