TV's favorite Bromance of Ponch and Jon may be patrolling the small screen once again.
Num8ers‘ writer/producers Nicolas Falacci and Cheryl Heuton are developing for Warner Bros. Television a reboot of ‘CHiPs,’ the late 1970s/early ’80s action-drama that starred Erik Estrada and Larry Wilcox as members of the California Highway Patrol, Deadline.com reports.
Topher Grace of ‘That ’70s Show‘ (though not this particular ’70s show) is also an exec producer on the project.
Interestingly and perhaps not coincidentally, ‘That ’70s Show’ cast member Wilmer Valderrama was in 2005 attached to a previous attempt at a ‘CHiPs reboot, but that one never made it to pilot.
‘CHiPs’ represents but the latest piece of “classic” TV to be targeted for a redo. A rather nifty new ‘Hawaii Five-O‘ is coming to CBS this fall (airing Mondays at 10/9c), while reboots of ‘The Rockford Files‘ and ‘Charlie’s Angels‘ are in various stages of development.
Who should play the HOT latino and the cute boyish blonde? Will the uniforms be tighter?
