It was a Busy week on
Facebook, especially during the Republican National Convention. It
was like everyone had an opinion. Here is a sample of some of the well-known Voices!
- Fred Kuhr (Journalist): I just figured out why Chris Christie is so big. He's full of bullish*t!
A headline I saw this evening: "Can Paul Ryan top Chris Christie?" That is a mental image I did NOT want in my head!
- Justin Vivian Bond (Entertainer): Okay Christie. We believe the republican congress made as big a point of doing nothing as they possibly could. We believe you are full of it
- Jeff Campagna-(Activist):This Chris Christie speech is the republican equivalent of Mondale's "I'll raise taxes" speech.
- Ester Goldberg (Blogger): GEORGE CHRISTIE PRETTY MUCH Fell flat too..i was expecting more........ guess the buffet line was closing! I think i have lost all respect for Clint Eastwood.. this a rambling disaster......from a senile old man... who is obviously bitter!
- Wilson Cruz (Actor):"Romney looked like Prince Charles visiting New Guinea. Like he was coming into some other culture, vaguely bemused by what they were all excited about...all he didn't have was a kilt..." -Chris Matthews, line of the night!
- Heather Matarazzo-(Actress): And now the commentators are talking about the important parts of Ryans speech, "what he has in his IPOD"!! CMON PEOPLE, WTF?? Paul Ryan looks scary. Lifetime movie, secret stalker, woman hater scary.
Clint Eastwood became huge star as a man of few words As a surprise guest on the Tampa stage he had too many words
After watching Paul Ryan last night, then watching Mitt Romney tonight--and reading, listening and watching to the media reaction, the theatrics of it all--I cannot help but think:
We are way beyond "post-truth" in politics. Facts mean nothing, context insignificant. We are, in fact, simply lost.
I sincerely hope I am wrong.
