Martina Navratilova was rarely beaten on the tennis
court but the dance floor proved an insurmountable challenge for the
famed athlete. On Tuesday night, she was the first celebrity to be
eliminated on Season 14’s “Dancing with the Stars.”
Martina’s Monday night jive received the lowest score, a 17, and it
was clear she couldn’t keep up with the fast dance – or the rest of the
strong celebrity field. You would think the Lesbian Viewer for Rally to keep her.
After the elimination show, a visibly disappointed Martina told
reporters, “I blew it yesterday so that’s what happens. I guess I
couldn’t make it up in the voting but I gave it everything I had. That’s
all I can ever do.
“I was anxious about the first fast step and I just got lost and I
could never catch up,” she shrugged about her Monday night experience.
“I think there are a lot of people [here] that have dance experience. I
ran into a buzz saw. I think I would have had a better shot any other
year.”
Meanwhile, her partner, Tony Dovolani, was almost
speechless when asked about Martina’s ouster. “I’m destroyed right now,”
he said, after collecting himself. “I wanted her to last longer. She
has the kindest heart.”
Compared to Chris Everett's Performance is Season , Martina looked like she wanted to stay.
