DEAL: Malt Whisky Fetches Record $73K!

A 55-year-old bottle of Scotch has sold for the princely sum of $72,630 at auction, reports Bloomberg. The price makes the bottle of Glenfiddich Janet Sheed Roberts Reserve the most expense single malt whisky ever sold, notes Deadline.

What's with the weird name? The whisky honors the oldest living Scot, 110-year-old Janet Sheed Roberts, who is the granddaughter of the founder of the Glenfiddich distillery, adds the BBC. “It’s not often a whisky of this stature comes up at auction,” says a specialist at the Bonhams auction house in Edinburgh. “The rarity and quality of the liquid, the exquisite bespoke packaging and the story behind its creation makes this a collectible that’s hard to value.” Eleven more bottles will be sold at auction over the next year, with the proceeds going to international charity Water Aid.
