RELIEF: Gay Man's Deportation To Uganda On Hold!

A man facing certain death if he is returned to his native country is getting his first chance at freedom.

Supporters of Joseph Bokombe told 10News San Diego, the native Ugandan's deportation has been put on hold.

"I'm absolutely excited and just amazed," said Hector Martinez, who is leading a petition drive to keep Bokombe in the U.S.

Bokombe just received word of a surprise decision allowing him to appeal.

"It means he has an opportunity to save his life," said Martinez.
