UNC student made up gay hate crime story?

University of North Carolina student Quin Matney made up the story of an anti-gay attack, college officials said, 365gay.com reports.


Matney had claimed that a man had approached him by a footbridge, called Matney a faggot, and then pressed a hot piece of metal into his hand.

“The Department of Public Safety has determined that the alleged aggravated assault … did not occur,” Chancellor Holden Thorp said in a message to the campus community. “That report, filed with campus police on April 5, was false.”
