When The Kings of Leon declined a request that some of their songs be used in an episode of Glee, showrunner Ryan Murphy really went off on the group saying “F— you, Kings of Leon” among other things.
It ignited a very public war of words that was most unfortunate.
“I didn’t speak with as much clarity as I would have liked,” Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter on the set of Glee Friday afternoon. “Who am I to say ‘F–k you?’ That’s not what I meant. I completely understand when artists don’t want a show or another artist to interpret their songs. In fact, I respect it. It’s their personal work and I’d feel the same way. We get turned down all the time and I don’t fight it or even go back after a rejection.”
Murphy had blasted them in an earlier interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
