The character, Kevin Keller, who has already connected with so many fans in the classic Archie series will get his own comical book, according to the publisher of the franchise.
“I think as time marches on, gay characters in comics will become more commonplace and it won’t be a big media event every time a gay character is introduced,” Dan Parent, who is creating the series, told The Associated Press on Friday.
Mr. Parent noted the successes of gay-themed characters on television today, including ‘Glee,’ ‘Degrassi,’ and ‘90210.’
Is being gay sellable? “I think what people are finding is that having something ‘gay’ sells,” Gretchen Mates, a resident of San Francisco, told Politically Illustrated, adding, “but if only being gay was that easy.”
