Mickey Rooney was angry and emotional as he asked a Senate committee in Washington on Wednesday to crack down on elder abuse, USA Today Reports.
The 90-year-old Rooney told the Senate Special Committee on Aging that he was abused by a family member who took control of his life, and described feeling "scared, disappointed, yes, and angry."
He did not name the family member, but Rooney has a restraining order keeping his stepson, Chris Aber, away from him until an April 5 court hearing, reports AP. "You can't believe that it's happening to you," Rooney said. "You feel overwhelmed."
Shouting from the witness table, Rooney said, "I'm asking you to stop this elderly abuse. I mean to stop it. Now. Not tomorrow, not next month, but now!"
