CULTURE: Chaz responds about mom Cher’s continuing trouble with gender pronouns!

Cher has been doing a great deal of press for her new movie Burlesque (Vanity Fair, Nightline, Leno, Letterman, NY Times, Parade) and has been asked some about Chaz’s change in gender. She has been supportive of her eldest child (Cher also has a son with rocker Greg Allman) but has continued to refer to Chaz as “she” instead of “he.”

Greg in Holywood asked Chaz if this bothered him.

“You know, it doesn’t thrill me but I understand it,” he said. “I understand that she’s got 40 years of using one set of pronouns and it’s hard to get used to it. So I try to be understanding about it and as long as she tries, that’s really what’s important.”

Added Chaz: “It’ll happen over time.”

Becoming Chaz, a documentary about Bono’s transitions from female to male, will make its debut next month at the Sundance Film Festival. It is directed by Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato.
