On the heels of the Israeli edition of ‘Dancing With the Stars‘ delivering the franchise’s first-ever same-sex couple, all eyes are now on U.S. version, to see if it follows in those progressive footsteps, Fancast Reports.
Portia De Rossi on Wednesday addressed a rather unfounded rumor-slash-pure speculation that she will take a spin with another woman on the ‘DWTS’ dance floor next season, telling radio host Ryan Seacrest, “You never know!”
Though Seacrest tried to coax the wife of talk queen Ellen DeGeneres into proactively passing on any such gig, she countered, “Let me think about it,” adding, “I used to be a ballet dancer, so… it’s not completely ‘I’ll pass.’”
As is policy, a rep for the ABC series – which just entered the semifinal round of its 11th season – declined to comment on casting rumors.
Talk of a same-sex ‘Dancing’ couple dates back to July 2008, when rumors swirled that out singer Lance Bass would be paired with a male pro during his Season 7 run. Instead, Bass was ultimately paired with Lacey Schwimmer.
‘DWTS’ judge Carrie Ann Inaba, though, thinks the time is right. “I think America is ready for that,” she told People.com. “Our country is much more accepting of same-sex couples, and it would be great for the show to reflect that.”
Which Female Pro will she be paired with? Anna? Karina? How about Seacrest with the OUT, Louis Van Amstel?
