ISSUES: Ailes Sorry for Calling NPR Execs 'Nazis'!

Roger Ailes has apologized for calling NPR bosses "Nazis" in an interview—but he's not exactly backing down. Mediabistro obtained a letter that the Fox News chair sent to the Anti-Defamation League apologizing for his word choice, but in it, he doesn’t apologize for slamming NPR. “In my now considered opinion, ‘nasty, inflexible bigot’ would have worked better,” he wrote to the ADL national director, who is a Holocaust survivor.

“I welcome Roger Ailes' apology, which is as sincere as it is heartfelt,” said director Abe Foxman. In his letter, Ailes wrote that he “was of course ad-libbing,” noting that he “was angry at the time because of NPR’s willingness to censor Juan Williams for not being liberal enough.” He adds that Williams is a friend. “Even if I’m occasionally politically incorrect I never leave any doubts about my loyalty
