OUTscene: What was disturbing about the Kitsap Pride?

By MK Scott

This past weekend as I manned the GLBTYP booth at the Kitsap Pride in Bremerton, I was quite surprised that a huge percentage of the people who attended were Butch Lesbians and Trans. (That didn't disturb me) What disturbed me was the absence of any out or closeted Sailors from the nearby Navel base, but that only slightly disturbed me. What really disturbed me was the absence of any DADT support services (AVER and SLDN). You would think that in this day and age with the repeal on the way of succeeding these support services would be visible and available to anyone one who happen to come by Pride to get some information about about where to get those services. (MISSED OPPORTUNITY) Perhaps AVER and SLDN were busy at the San Diego Pride going on during the same weekend?
