ENTERTAINMENT: CBS Reacts To Bad GLAAD Grade By Adding Gay Characters!

CBS expects to make GLAAD a little less mad by upping its representation of GLBT characters.

“We’re not happy with ourselves,” CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler admitted Wednesday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, in the wake of CBS receiving its second consecutive “failing” grade from GLAAD.

“We’re adding a few characters to this season because we’re very disappointed in our track record,” Tassler said.

Among those additions: During ‘The Good Wife’s second season, viewers will meet Alicia’s brother, who is gay; on ‘Rules of Engagement,’ Jeff and Audrey’s surrogate mother will be a lesbian member of Jeff’s softball team; and the new sitcom ‘S#*! My Dad Says‘ will feature a recurring gay character played by Tim Bagley.

Speaking of ‘The Good Wife’ and possibly maybe sorta kinda gay characters, Tassler said that the sexuality of Emmy nominee Archie Panjabi’s won’t be explored much further in the new season’s early episodes: “We don’t want to spill the beans just yet.”
