OUTscene: (PRIDE 2011) Parade and PrideFest 'Totally Awesome'!

OUTview was a PROUD media sponsor of the pride parade as MK rode PROUDLY in the parade with Lincoln Rose and Ethan McMahon in a1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Spyder Convertible. No Big stars this year but the real Star was the car (driven by Seattle attorney, Douglas Titus)!

On the corner of 4th and Bell, our partners at ITV was capturing and streaming LIVE on Ustream and OUTview  (Look for Highlights coming soon).

In the The Seattle Times: Adam Rosencrantz, board president of parade sponsor Seattle Out and Proud said, estimated crowds at 400,000, in excess of last year's 250,000. "It's an exciting time," he said. "I think one message for us to remember is why we're doing it (Pride festivities). In this country, we can do this. But there are places around the world where if anybody finds out you're gay, it's punishable by death or life in prison."

Once we got to Seattle Center for Pridefest, we were amazed how crowded it was already. MK and the Team shared the booth with our Pridefest Sponsor, Blue Sky Cleaners. Many Thanks to Jessica and her team for their support.

One of the headliners was 2010 IDOL Runner up Crystal Bowersox singing her hit, 'Farmer's Daughter' and a special request for a Tracy Chapman Hit.

Many Hot shirtless guys in underwear, buying underwear, T-Shirts, Lesbians Toppless and  running around nude in the international Fountain. It was an 'Totally Awesome' Day!

OUTscene: (PRIDE 2011) The Guys were Hotter than the Weather at the Capitol Hill Pride Block Party!

The 3rd Annual Capitol Hill Block party was Saturday and the weather went from warm to cold, sunny to cloudy. We were amazed that many more people were there than last year. 2 stages (One Latino, one acoustic) plus Julia's beer garden provided entertainment, food and non profits. The guys on the left were great eye candy! Later I walked past the Dyke March.

OUTscene America: (SIFF INTER-view) Mike Mills and Ewan McGregor are Far from 'Beginners'!

By Sara Michelle Fetters
MovieFreak.com

I found writer/director Mike Mills Beginners starring Ewan McGregor, Christopher Plummer and Mélanie Laurent to be nearly perfect. The story of a lonely artist, Oliver (McGregor), the movie weaves together disparate strands of narrative going from past to present. It follows our hero’s love affair with beguiling yet wounded French actress Anna (Laurent) while also showcasing his emotionally surreal relationship with his elderly father (Plummer), an esteemed art historian who has recently come out of the closet and is fighting cancer.

I sat down Mills and McGregor to discuss the film while they were attending the Seattle International Film Festival. Our wide-ranging conversation touched upon a number of topics, spiraling from here to there with bravado, our time together much too short.

OUTscene America: (INTER-view) Adrian Ryan 's Exclusive with "It Gets Better" Co-Creator, Terry Miller!

Photo/Kevin Kauer
by Adrian Ryan
OUTscene Special

Terry Miller is one of the most influential gay men in America—whether you recognize his name or not.

If you do, you probably know Terry as the long-silent, long-term HICBIA (Husband in Canada, Boyfriend in America) of Dan Savage, the famous Sex Advice columnist/cum powerhouse politico who has been recently described, quite aptly, as “Captain Gay.”

But the astonishing success of the It Get’s Better Project—which basically began with a video of Terry recounting his own High School horrors— has thrust Terry firmly into the spotlight…and the pages of gay history. Terry and Dan have not only set new standards of tolerance for gay and lesbian youth with the It Gets Better Project, they have incited a gay-rights revolution to perhaps rival the social effects of Stonewall –the full force of which will not be felt for years. Below, Terry and I discuss the genesis of It Gets Better Project, returning to his High School for the first time, and life on the road with Dan.

OUTscene: (SIFF INTER-view): Film Director Sabine Bernardi on “Romeos” a feature film about love, a transgendered man, and identity for all!

By Ethan L. McMahon
OUTscene Special

Female-to-Male transgendered people have not been a widely discussed topic, historically focus has been on the Male-to-Female, but recently there has been a shift in attention. A good part of that shift has been due to the public announcement of Chaz Bono transitioning from daughter of the superstar Cher, to son, causing no small amount of debate inside and outside the LGBT community.

Into this somewhat heated debate comes “Romeos”, a fun and powerful little film from Germany, with a straight forward and honest perspective on what is a very internal struggle for most. Centered on the lives of young adults in Cologne, this film is young and hip, vibrant and occasionally reckless, and funny while at the same time very serious.

I had an opportunity to sit down for a chat with the Writer and Director, Sabine Bernardi, the day after its US debut. Bernardi is a self-avowed lesbian, petite and good-looking, with alert hazel eyes, a firm handshake, and a charming German accent. My first impression is that she is a person who knows what she is about, and loves what she does.

OUTscene: (SIFF INTER-view) What a Sissy....A Revealing Moment with Francois Sagat!

by Adrian Ryan
OUTscene Special

So I says to Francois Sagat, I says, “Francois! I understand that this is probably the most obvious question in the universe and that you’ve been asked it over and over and over again, but! Do you plan to embrace your porn career as you move forward into mainstream films, or play it down?”

And Francois Sagat says? “I don’t want to do mainstream films. I like porn.”

Well. Okeedokee then. (And with his deep French accent and his pouty French lips, the word "porn" sound like “prawn”. Adorable.)

OUTscene: (RE-view) Riverdance's FINAL Irish Variety show comes to Seattle one last time!

by MK Scott
OUTscene Editor

While Riverdance may be on its farewell tour of North America, the Irish dance craze is nowhere near tapped out.

The packed opening night of the Seattle run (June 3-5) of Riverdance proved the city still has a hearty appetite for Irish step-dancing — an athletic, energetic dance style that first captured global attention 17 years ago. I had always thought that Riverdance was about Irish Dance. It wasn't it was a whole lot more. This was an Irish-style variety show with Dance, song, story, and Music Jam session with plenty of instrumental solos.

OUTscene: SIFF Drama: Harvard Exit Cinema cleared after suspicious activity!

Some drama Wednesday night at the 7pm Seattle International Film Festival screening of If A Tree Falls: A Story of the Earth Liberation Front a documentary about the eco-terrorist Earth Liberation Front movement notorious for dramatic and violent demonstrations in support of their cause. Ten minutes into the screening, the film was stopped and the audience was abruptly evacuated from the theater with the explanation there were “technical difficulties”. Later, a SIFF staffer allegedly reported there was a 911 call made which resulted in a fire drill, but no fire trucks, police or emergency personnel ever arrived on the scene. Audience members were also told, the film would not be rescheduled but received vouchers to use for other films at the Festival. Get the FULL story at Seattle Gay Scene!

by Sarah Toce
The Seattle Lesbian/OUTscene

Then we arrived at Emerald Queen Casino on the evening of Saturday, May 21, we had no idea that we would be ushered backstage to meet the Queen of Rock ‘n' Roll – Runaway wild child Joan Jett. Our names were on the VIP ticket list and the “Meet and Greet” wrist-bands were gently placed in the fold of the white envelope. I looked down at my watch - it was 8:00pm. We were scheduled to meet Joan at 7:45pm. Running through the casino to get to the arena ensued…and we made it.
