ACTION: True Blood goes Gay Hot, Behind the Scenes!

BlackBook describes some horseplay on the True Blood set in a new interview with Alexander Skarsgard: Before the cameras begin rolling, Skarsgård walks up to his mark in the center of the room, Moyer kneels in front of him—his character is picking something up off the ground when the shot begins—and the director watches them from his chair in front of a camera monitor. While waiting in their places, Skarsgård looks down at his costar and says dryly, “It looks like he’s sucking me off,” to which Moyer responds by bobbing his head vigorously. Skarsgård closes his eyes and starts moaning with the intensity of a slash-fiction hero, after which Moyer stands up and wipes imaginary fluids from his mouth with the back of his hand. He scans the crowd and after taking a slight bow says, “And the Emmy goes to… ” A crew member whispers to no one in particular, “Now that’s what I call ‘Action.’

Telling 'Tales' for the Musical Stage, But not Broadway (Yet)!

Thirty-five years after Mary Ann Singleton moved west to San Francisco, one of the city's most beloved fictional residents has a new home: the musical theater.

In May, San Francisco's American Conservatory Theater will stage an original musical based on Armistead Maupin's "Tales of the City" series about Ms. Singleton and her community of colorful outcasts. The show features heavyweight talent including writing and direction from the duo behind Tony-winning "Avenue Q" and music by members of the electro-pop band Scissor Sisters. Producers say they hope the $2.2 million production could eventually travel to other cities or even Broadway, but don't have any current plans.

BROADWAY: Gasping Spider-Man Gets Revamp!

The producers of the cursed Spider-Man Broadway musical are rejigging the show's musical numbers, and its official opening may get a sixth tweak, reports the New York Times. Veteran musical supervisor and conductor Paul Bogaev has been hired to revamp many of the $65 million show's musical numbers, according to a production spokesman; but he declined to comment on the possibility of opening day, currently March 15, being pushed back once again.

The spokesman denied that producers are also seeking the services of a script doctor and a co-director. The musical has suffered so many problems—and terrible reviews—that it may be remembered as one of the most cursed Broadway productions in recent memory, apart from one thing: It began preview performances in late November, and has been one of the top-grossing shows on Broadway since the performances began.

Behind-The-Scenes of Broadway's Spider-Man Musical

The NYT has a first look at the new Julie Taymor-U2 Spider-Man musical set to open soon on Broadway:

"Four minutes into the Act I rehearsal, a 'Spider-Man' crew member announced on his mic, 'We’re gonna hold.' It was the first of several pauses to deal with technical glitches, mostly in transitions between scenes. By the dinner break, only 15 minutes of the two-and-a-half-hour show had unfolded. And the first scheduled performance (this Sunday at 6:30 p.m.) was just eight days away."
